Abstract
XAFS of the manganese K-edge in LiMn2O4 has allowed the chemical and s tructural effects of lithium extraction and reinsertion to be characte rised and attributed to oxidation-reduction processes. Structural info rmation in the experimental data at low k, as well as that relating to scatterers beyond the first two coordination shells, can be accuratel y analysed using nb initio curved-wave multiple scattering simulations .
