The copper (II) acrylic monomer Cu(aaem)(2) (aaem = 2-acetoacetoxyethy
l methacrylate) undergoes high-yield gamma-ray copolymerization with d
imethylacrylamide, styrene, and hydroxoethyl methacrylate in the prese
nce of methylene bisacrylamide as crosslinking agent in dimethylformam
ide. The metalloorganic copolymers are fully characterized. Polymer-pr
otected Cu(II) results in being extremely stable toward a number of re
ducing agents in different media. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
