Abstract
Only 1% of the presently available 5000 database titles are relevant t o marine biology and biotechnology. Nearly 60% of these are bibliograp hic in nature. There are almost no textual and numeric databases, whic h are the prime need of researchers. This paper presents a review of t he major databases related to marine biology and biotechnology, with a discussion on the scope for textual and numeric databases.
