The case history of a neonatal infection caused by Salmonella enteriti
dis group D is presented. The mother suffered from gastroenteritis 1 w
eek ante partum. The newborn was treated with ampicillin, gentamicin a
nd later amoxicillin but 5 months later was still a carrier of Salmone
lla. The possible route of infection and the guidelines for therapy an
d management of Salmonella infections during pregnancy and puerperium
