A. Ali et J. Pfleiderer, 2 NEW EVOLVED NEIGHBORING PLANETARY-NEBULAE IN AQUILA, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 289(3), 1997, pp. 589-591
In the course of a search for faint new non-stellar objects in the Nor
thern Galactic Plane, two neighbouring planetary nebula (PNe) candidat
es have been detected on film copies of the POSS II. Whereas the morph
ology of the smaller of the two objects (empty set = 15 arcsec) is typ
ical for PNe, the nature of the larger one (34 x 18 arcsec(2)) defied
an even provisional classification, on its photographic appearance alo
ne. Optical spectra, however, allowed both sources, which are separate
d by 20 arcmin only, to be classified as highly obscured PNe. Both neb
ulae obviously are rather old, i.e. they are evolved representatives o
f their kind.
