K. Kodama et al., DRAMATIC RESPONSE OF POSTTHYMOMECTOMY MYASTHENIA-GRAVIS WITH MULTIPLELUNG NODULES TO CORTICOSTEROIDS, The Annals of thoracic surgery, 64(2), 1997, pp. 555-557
A 36-year-old woman underwent thymomectomy and left pneumonectomy with
total pleurectomy for stage IVa invasive thymoma without myasthenia g
ravis. Six years later, a crisis of myasthenia gravis developed associ
ated with multiple lung nodules. Steroid therapy induced remarkable re
gression of the lung nodules that has persisted for more than 11 month
s. Concurrently, the clinical severity of her myasthenia gravis marked
ly decreased and recovered to the extent of permitting her to return t
o normal life. (C) 1997 by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
