Abstract
A naturally occurring E. multilocularis infection in an 11-year old fe male rhesus monkey is described. The infection most probably was acqui red from foxes of the Gottingen area through contaminated branches or foliage taken from the nearby forest. The most severely affected organ s were the liver and the lung. a limited serological survey using the Em2plus ELISA revealed 5 more animals which su far remain clinically h ealthy as possibly infected.
