Vg. Ainshtein et Mk. Zakharov, LIMITING STAGES IN MASS-TRANSFER OPERATIONS WITH THIN-FILM FLOWS, Theoretical foundations of chemical engineering, 30(6), 1996, pp. 570-578
It is shown that the throughputs of stages in which material is suppli
ed to the working zone of a mass-transfer apparatus and in which it is
removed from the zone should be taken into account in predicting the
rate of mass-transfer processes. The rate of mass transfer from a liqu
id film for film mass-transfer apparatuses is studied. An approach bas
ed on theoretical analysis is proposed to estimate the boundaries betw
een the stream-controlled and mixed problems. The experimental data av
ailable in the Literature are used to confirm the stream-controlled be
havior of mass transfer in laminar films and to verify the theoretical
ly predicted boundaries between the stream-controlled and mixed proble
ms.
