Abstract
Two-linear coordination polymers composed of copper(I) cations and tet rakis(ethylthio)tetrathiafulvalene (TTC2-TTF) and tetrakis(propylthio) tetrathiafulvalene (TTC3-TTF) molecules have been synthesized by the r eaction of copper(I) tetrafluoroborate with TTC2-TTF and copper(I) per chlorate with TTC3-TTF, respectively, in acetone under argon. The comp ounds, [Cu(TTC2-TTF)]BF4 (i) and [Cu(TTC3-TTF)]ClO4 (2), were characte rized by spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic methods. They are 1: I metal-ligand complexes in which each of the copper(I) ions is tetrah edrally coordinated by four sulfur atoms from the bridging TTC2-TTF or TTC3-TTF molecules to form coordination polymeric chains. 1 and 2 wer e doped with iodine to afford {[Cu(TTC2-TTF)]BF4}(I-3)(0.33) and {[Cu( TTC3-TTF)]ClO4}(I-3)(0.33), which exhibit conductivities of 2x10(-5) a nd 4x10(-5) S cm(-1), respectively, at 25 degrees C for compacted pell ets.
