Abstract
Inner and outer haircells are destroyed within one day following perfu sion of the perilymphatic spaces with water, otherwise the structural integrity of the cochlea and the organ of Corti are preserved. This te chnique is a reliable method to create an acute unilateral deafness mo del for investigations of auditory function.
