Abstract
We present ROSAT and radio observations of a high velocity cloud (HVC) which encounters the Milky Way. At the edges of the HVC90.5+42.5-130 X-ray emitting gas (with T(e) congruent-to 2 . 10(6) K) as well as rel ativistic electrons and magnetic fields (traced by non-thermal radio c ontinuum emission) exist. We propose that the kinetic energy of the HV C is effectively transferred into heat via magnetic drag. The field li nes are compressed, turbulently mixed and dissipated via magnetic reco nnection, i.e. electric currents.
