The optical isotope shifts in the transition 4f(4)5d I-6(11/2)-(26772)
(11/2)degrees of Nd II were measured by using collinear fast-ion-beam
laser spectroscopy. The changes in mean-square nuclear charge radii de
lta(r(2)) (fm(2)) among five even-even neodymium isotopes were deduced
from the measured optical isotope shifts: (142, 144) 0.269; (144, 146
) 0.259; (146, 148) 0.278; (148, 150) 0.403. The configuration admixtu
res of the previously unclassified (26772)(11/2)degrees level were qua
ntitatively analysed to be 4f(4)6p, 4f(3)5d(2), and 4f(3)5d6s with mix
ing probabilities of 13%, 85%, 2%, respectively.
