Abstract
This article surveys the basic requirements for implementing cogenerat ion systems that will not only help meet the demand for increasing ene rgy consumption associated with widespread penetration of multimedia c ommunications but will also promote environmental protection by helpin g reduce CO2 emissions. The article also describes efforts toward over coming inherent obstacles to installing cogeneration systems in commun ications buildings.
