Abstract
Pain is thought to be an neglected topic in patient management, psychi atric education, clinical investigation, and health care. In order to improve these deficiencies, a committee of the ''Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Psychiatrie, Psychotherapie und Nervenheilkunde (DGPPN)'' is elab orating a training program and postgraduate courses. In this part, the significance of a thorough evaluation of history, careful pain analys is, and documentation ist outlined.
