Abstract
This paper presents the characteristics of neodymium lasers with short -term resonance loss modulation, characterized by high-energy (up to 1 J) picosecond output pulses, high accuracy of time referencing, and h igh reproducibility of their main parameters. The possibility is shown of generating isolated high-energy ultrashort pulses with a minimum w idth of about 50 ps in neodymium-glass lasers. (C) 1997 The Optical So ciety of America.
