Abstract
An analysis is given of the processing operations that accompany the f abrication of flexible regular fiber bundles for medical and technical endoscopy (imparting antifriction properties to single fibers, shapin g the ends and end zones of the bundle, applying protective claddings, and coating layers on the side surfaces to protect them from side ill umination). These operations guarantee the mechanical strength of the bundles and determine their long-term operational parameters. (C) 1997 The Optical Society of America.
