Bj. Kooij, THE ELECTROMAGNETIC-FIELD EMITTED BY A PULSED CURRENT POINT-SOURCE ABOVE THE INTERFACE OF A NONPERFECTLY CONDUCTING EARTH, Radio science, 31(6), 1996, pp. 1345-1360
The electromagnetic radiation due to a pulsed current point source loc
ated above a nonperfectly conducting Earth is investigated. The Cagnia
rd-de Hoop technique with polar variables is used in order to derive c
losed-form expressions for the electric field above or on the surface
of a nonperfectly conducting Earth. Early- and late-time approximation
s are derived which are tested with an exact method that is presented
in this paper. The approximate method yields excellent results and req
uires far less computation time. Numerical results for the electric fi
eld above the Earth are presented for both the exact and the approxima
te methods.
