Abstract
We investigate the energy loss from inelastic losses due to excitation of the substrate and neighboring atoms during the emission of electro ns from atoms weakly adsorbed at solid surfaces. The ionization losses are important only for trajectories close to the surface; for greater electron escape angles the substrate gives the main contribution.
