Abstract
By molecular dynamics simulations, we investigate the microscopic deta ils of the mechanism of spreading. Our data are in agreement with expe rimental evidence and support the validity of the de Gennes-Cazabat mo del describing the late stages of spreading. The effects specific to c hainlike molecules are also accounted for.
