Abstract
The analysis of the primary structure of polysaccharide derivatives ha s to consider different structural levels. In the field of the monomer analysis anion exchange chromatography enables the investigation of s ome anionic derivatives and methyl ethers. Two analytical strategies f or the analysis of the substituent distribution along the polymer chai n are outlined, and the results from model studies on methyl amyloses prepared under homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions are discussed.
