S. Bowhay et P. Timms, INTERFERENCE WITH VANCOMYCIN FLUORESCENCE POLARIZATION IMMUNOASSAY INA NONURAEMIC PATIENT, Therapeutic drug monitoring, 19(1), 1997, pp. 117-119
Commercially available immunoassays for vancomycin have been reported
to overestimate serum vancomycin concentrations by varying degrees in
patients with renal impairment, particularly those on peritoneal dialy
sis, by interference with crystalline degradation product-1 (CDP-1). T
o date this interference has not been reported in any other patient po
pulation. This report describes vancomycin fluorescence polarisation i
mmunoassay (FPIA) interference in a patient with only mildly impaired
renal function. At this time it is not possible to confirm that the in
terference was caused by CDP-1.
