Abstract
We investigate the application of Prox-Regularization to ill-posed con vex control problems governed by elliptic equations. Stable variants o f Penalty Methods are obtained by means of One- and Multi-Step Regular ization of the penalized problems. Convergence of the resulting method s is proved in the case of distributed control (with a bounded set of admissible controls) and Dirichlet boundary conditions. More general t ypes will be considered in the second part of this paper.
