Abstract
The thiazolidine-2,4-diones contain an active methylene group. Thus, t hey give a nucleophilic addition reaction with alkyl 2-cyanocinnamates . Synthesis, mechanism of the reaction, physical and chemical properti es of 5-benzylidene-thiazoridine-2,4-diones and pyranothiazoles obtain ed are described.
