Abstract
alpha-Chymotrypsin has been immobolized on porous silica beads. The ac tivity, optimum temperature and pH of the immobilized chymotrypsin as well as its Michaelis constant have also been determined. Its stabilit ies to heat, acid, base, methanol and urea are increased remarkably. I t has been applied to resolving DL-phenylalanine continuously more tha n two months with good performance. L-Phenylalanine is obtained in a y ield of 90%, and its optical purity reaches as high as 96%.
