Abstract
The reaction of 3-cyanoaniline and naphthalic anhydride in refluxing d imethylformamide yielded the title compound. In the crystal, the napht halimide and benzonitrile ring planes are inclined at 69.36(16)degrees . The molecules pack in columnar stacks parallel to the c axis.
