Rj. Gimpelson, NOT SO BENIGN ENDOMETRIAL HYPERPLASIA - ENDOMETRIAL CANCER AFTER ENDOMETRIAL ABLATION, The Journal of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, 4(4), 1997, pp. 507-511
The masking or development oi endometrial cancer after endometrial abl
ation is a concern often alluded to in discussions of complications of
endometrial ablation, It is necessary to look for a common factor whe
n this complication occurs. Six cases published in peer-reviewed liter
ature were collected to establish a link between the development of en
dometrial cancer and endometrial ablation. Preexisting endometrial hyp
erplasia seems to be the common denominator, and should be considered
a contraindication to endometrial ablation until more data are collect
ed.
