Rk. Sarkar et al., EFFECT OF LEVELS AND SOURCES OF PHOSPHORUS WITH AND WITHOUT FARMYARD MANURE ON PIGEONPEA (CAJANUS-CAJAN) UNDER RAIN-FED CONDITION, Indian Journal of Agronomy, 42(1), 1997, pp. 120-123
An experiment was conducted during the rainy season of 1987 and 1988 a
t Hazaribagh (Bihar), to study the effect of levels and sources of pho
sphorus with and without farmyard manure on pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (
L.) Millsp.]. Application of 10 tonnes famyard manure/ha gave signific
antly higher grain yield of pigeonpea 16.7% over no farmyard manure. P
@ 90 kg P2O5/ha resulted in 6.36% higher yield than P @ 45 kg P2O5/ha
. Among the P sources, single superphosphate was found superior to roc
kphosphates. Application of 45 and 90 kg P2O5/ha when supplied through
single superphosphate proved equally effective on pigeonpea in presen
ce of farmyard manure only in lime-treated Oxisol.
