Ks. Detroja et al., RESPONSE OF SUMMER GROUNDNUT (ARACHIS-HYPOGAEA) TO PHOSPHORUS, BIOFERTILIZER AND SEED SIZE, Indian Journal of Agronomy, 42(1), 1997, pp. 165-168
A field experiment was conducted on clayey soil of Junagadh during sum
mer season of 1992 and 1993 to study the effect of phosphorus, biofert
ilizer and seed size on yield, P uptake and P status in soil after har
vest of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) crop. Phosphorus did not exert
their significant effect on pod yield, haulm yield and P uptake. Phos
phorus uptake by haulm was significantly increased only up to the appl
ication of 25 kg P2O5/ha. Available P2O5 content in soil after harvest
the crop was significantly increased with each increase in level of P
. Seed inoculation with P. straita recorded higher pod yield, haulm yi
eld, P uptake by pod and haulm and P content in soil after harvest in
both the years and in pooled results over inoculation. Large seed size
recorded higher yield (pod and haulm) and P uptake by pod and haulm a
s compared with other seed sizes, whereas P content in soil after harv
est the crop was remained unaffected due to different seed sizes.
