Jh. Youk et al., MOLECULAR DIMENSIONS OF POLY(ETHYLENE ISOPHTHALATE) AND POLY(ETHYLENENAPHTHALENE-2,6-DICARBOXYLATE), Polymer bulletin, 39(2), 1997, pp. 257-263
The rotational isomeric state (RIS) model was used to calculate the mo
lecular dimensions of poly(ethylene isophthalate) (PEI) and poly(ethyl
ene naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate) (PEN) by introducing new descriptio
n for aromatic segments and by adopting the statistical weight paramet
ers of PET. The mean square dimension ratios ((<r(2)>(0)/M)(infinity))
of PEN and PEI were 0.653 and 1.167, respectively, and the entangleme
nt molecular weight (M-e) of PEI and PEN were 1850 and 1810, respectiv
ely.
