The fluorescence properties of Eu3+-activated lanthanum chlorosilicate
La-3(SiO4)(2)Cl are reported and discussed. The emission results from
the activator ions lying in the two different sites of the rare earth
element. Spectral distribution is determinated for excitation into th
e Eu3+ charge-transfer band or in the 4f states. The conversion effeci
ency is studied as a function of the activator ion concentration.
