Abstract
ATP-dependent, azide-sensitive rotation of the gamma subunit relative to the alpha(3) beta(3) hexagonal ring of ATP synthase was observed wi th a single molecule imaging system. Thus, ATP synthase is a rotary mo tor enzyme, the first ever found.
