Vapor-liquid equilibrium data were measured in the binary system CO2-t
rioctanoylglycerol or tricaprylin at 313.2, 353.2 and 393.2 K and pres
sures ranging from 5.0 to 32.2 MPa using a static-type apparatus. The
CO2-tricaprylin system shows increasing solubility with increasing tem
perature at a fixed pressure, and increasing solubility with increasin
g pressure at a fixed temperature. For 313.2, 353.2, and 393.2 K, tota
l miscibility of CO, and tricaprylin was obtained at pressures above 1
4.2, 24.8 and 32.2 MPa, respectively. The critical and three-phase pre
ssures were determined in the temperature range from 286.1-304.7 K at
a CO2-tricaprylin ratio of 1:0.40 by weight. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science
