In his essay Kabanov presents a short history of the understanding of
rehabilitation and of psychoanalysis in Russia from the thirties up to
now. He describes his concept of rehabilitation and fundamental dynam
ic-psychiatric ideas. Common aspects of both approaches are pointed ou
t: the primacy of the Self; the taking into consideration of unconscio
us aspects, the holistic view of man. The author pleads for further ev
olution of psychotherapy in Russia, especially a qualified education o
f psychoanalysts and refers to an envisaged further cooperation of Rus
sian Bektherev Institute and German Dynamic Psychiatric Hospital Mente
rschwaige.
