Abstract
Thyristor-controlled series compensation system's are expected to prov ide benefits to utility transmission systems, with applications forthc oming over the next several years. This paper provides basic informati on on the characteristics and key rating issues associated with these new apparatus, intended to support the anticipated future applications .
