H. Weber et al., ALTERATION OF SUBJECTIVE AND OBJECTIVE PA RAMETERS BY DANAZOL-THERAPYIN PATIENTS WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS-ASSOCIATED INFERTILITY, Die medizinische Welt, 45(5), 1994, pp. 179-182
41 patients with an endometriosis-associated infertility were incorpor
ated in a prospective study and treated with danazol 600 mg daily for
6 months. Before and after chemotherapy, a laparoscopy was performed (
rAFSc). Subjective symptoms, adverse effects, laboratory changes and p
regnancy rate were documented for a period of one year. A significant
reduction of the endometriotic implants was demonstrated in 94% of the
patients. The mean rAFS-score decreased from 17.0 to 6.5 after therap
y. The subjective symptoms also changed positively: after danazol the
dysmenorrhoea disappeared in 77%, the dyspareunia in 94% and the pelvi
c pains in 74%. Laboratory parameters showed an increase of the SGOT i
n 33%, of the SGPT in 46%. Although side effects were obvious, 84% of
the women quoted danazol as ''well tolerable'' medication. The pregnan
cy rate during the first year reached 38%.
