G. Panzone et al., ISOLATION AND STRUCTURE ELUCIDATION OF 7,8-DIDEOXY-6-OXO-GRISEORHODIN-C PRODUCED BY ACTINOPLANES IANTHINOGENES, Journal of antibiotics, 50(8), 1997, pp. 665-670
A novel product, isolated from a culture broth of Actinoplanes ianthin
ogenes fermented for producing purpuromycin, was purified and its stru
cture established on the basis of physico-chemical data and chemical r
eactions. The new product resulted to be structurally related to grise
orhodins, a group of hydroquinonic antibiotics obtained from Streptomy
ces californicus. This compound showed a weak activity against Gram-po
sitive and resulted inactive against Gram-negative bacteria and Candid
a albicans.
