We present a classic case of Capnocytophaga canimorsus septicemia. G.
canimorsus (from the Latin canis, dog; and morsus, a bite), formerly c
alled CDC group DF-2, is a gram-negative rod that typically causes sep
ticemia with disseminated intravascular coagulation in both immunocomp
romised and immunocompetent hosts.(1)
