Abstract
The 'n-component Eckhaus equation', i psi, + A psi(xx) + (psi, C psi)( x)A psi + 2(psi,C psi)A psi(x) + [(psi(x), CA psi) - (psi,CA psi(x))]p si + (psi,C psi)(2)A psi = 0 is C-integrable. Here the dependent varia ble psi equivalent to psi(x,t) is an n-vector, and A and C are two con stant (n x n)-matrices restricted by the condition that both C and CA be Hermitian. Some special cases, and some explicit solutions, are dis played.
