A computer model of the recrystallization process is proposed which in
corporates both microstructure and crystallographic texture using a th
ree dimensional lattice. This model is applied to the recrystallizatio
n of cold-rolled interstitial free (IF) steel, assuming oriented nucle
ation al the grain boundaries. The nucleation mechanism is implemented
using the concept of subgrain coalescence. This model provides the qu
antitative information of a change in the volume fraction of the recry
stallization, the grain size distribution, and the crystallographic te
xture. (C) 1997 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
