The alloy Ti-50Al-15Mo (at.%) has been annealed at 1400 degrees C, 135
0 degrees C, 1200 degrees C, 1000 degrees C and 800 degrees C and subs
equently quenched. The resulting phases have been identified and their
compositions measured. The structures of the equilibrium phases al th
e various temperatures have thus been inferred, along with their compo
sitions. Of particular interest are a diffusionless transformation of
gamma-TiAl to a D0(22) structure similar to that of TiAl3 and a furthe
r ordering of the D0(22) compound to a new phase which we have termed
gamma ''. (C) 1997 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
