Abstract
Vacuum ultraviolet laser-induced fluorescence (VUV LIF) method was emp
loyed to study the angular relaxation of superthermal O(D-1) atoms by
collision with Np molecules. 157-nm F-2 laser photolysis of O-2 to O(D
-1) + O(P-3) channel channel was carried out to get O(D-1) atoms. And
O(D-1) atoms were probed at 115.212 nm laser generated by frequency tr
ipling technique. The angular relaxation rate constant of superthermal
O(D-1) by collision with N-2 is measured to be 1.60 +/- 0.03 x 10(-10
) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1).
