Reduction of nitro substituted 2,5-diaryloxazoles with hydrazine hydra
te and Raney nickel affords in good yield 2,5-diaryloxazoles having am
ino group(s) on the aryl ring(s). The reaction of 2,4,6-tri-substitute
d pyrylium perchlorates with mono-and diamino-2,5-diaryloxazoles yield
s new mono- and bispyridinium perchlorates with a central 2,5-diarylox
azole group. Their electronic, C-13 NMR and H-1 NMR spectra are presen
ted and discussed.
