During a study of social behaviour in a group of nine captive Livingst
one's fruit bats Pteropus livingstonii at Jersey Wildlife preservation
Trust (JWPT), a detailed ethogram was constructed, As well as descrip
tions of behaviours, additional information is given on their context
and functions, to aid interpretation. The behaviours recorded are disc
ussed with reference to previous work on Pteropus species, The study f
ollowed the group's move to a new enclosure, which is described.
