C. Cuny et al., RETROPERITONEAL FIBROSIS AND INFECTION OF AN AORTIC GRAFT PROSTHESIS - DIAGNOSIS AND THERAPEUTIC PROBLEMS, Clinical cardiology, 20(9), 1997, pp. 810-812
The occurrence of a retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) after an aorto-bife
moral bypass is unusual. A case of RPF as a complication of an infecti
on of the graft prosthesis is reported. Computed tomography and magnet
ic resonance imaging prove useful in diagnosing graft infection: they
may reveal periprosthetic gas or perigraft fluid persisting for severa
l months after surgery. However, they may fail when they are performed
too early, and repeat performance is suggested.
