Ajw. Scheurink et al., REGULATION OF ENERGY-METABOLISM DURING EXERCISE, Proceedings of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen, 99(3-4), 1996, pp. 229-252
This review deals with the peripheral sympathetic mechanisms involved
in the regulation of energy substrate homeostasis during exercise. We
have developed an experimental model for assessing sympathetic influen
ces on metabolic processes in the awake and exercising rat. The data i
n this survey particularly focus on the exercise-induced alterations o
f the plasma concentrations of the catecholamines, adrenaline (A) and
noradrenaline (NA), on the differences between adrenal A and neuronal
NA, and on the role of pre-and postsynaptic adrenoceptors in the regul
ation of energy metabolism during exercise.
