The hydrothermal treatment of different glasses of the composition 2 N
a2O-8 CaO-10 Al2O3-20 SiO2 and 2 BaO-2 Al2O3-6 SiO2 at one kilobar pre

ymmetry space-group Pbmn, a = 13.05 Angstrom, b = 13.09 Angstrom and c
=13.22 Angstrom), and edingtonite (orthorhombic symmetry, space-group:
P2(1)2(1)2, a = 9.55 Angstrom, b = 9.67 Angstrom and c = 6.52 Angstro
m). Under the chosen hydrothermal conditions both mineral phases are f
ormed in the whole temperature interval.
