Abstract
Adults with and without disabilities were surveyed to investigate simi larities and differences between these groups on dimensions of quality of life. Differences were found in marital status and opportunities t o make choices, as well as in the extent of social networks and activi ties experienced by these two groups. The authors contend that quality of life is a socially constructed phenomenon that must be addressed b y increasing opportunities for self-determination in terms of both ski ll development and environmental supports.
