Bromide, the first effective therapy for epilepsy, is not commonly pre
scribed today but has been advocated by some pediatric neurologists fo
r the treatment of intractable seizures in children, We report a 17-ye
ar-old female patient with intractable epilepsy who insidiously develo
ped bromism while on treatment with triple bromide elixir. We review t
he clinical presentation, diagnosis, pathophysiology, and management o
f bromism.
