D. Lochegnies et al., CENTRIFUGAL CASTING OF GLASS PLATES - A FINITE-ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF PROCESS PARAMETER INFLUENCE, Glass science and technology, 68(1), 1995, pp. 22-28
For the first time, glass centrifugal casting is analyzed by finite-el
ement viscoplastic models. First of all, the sensitivity of the proces
s parameters is analyzed on the radius lengthening of a glass gob duri
ng casting using central processing unit time-saving models. The suita
bility of glass for centrifuging is evaluated, taking its temperature,
viscosity, mould rotation speed and time dependency, casting time and
initial gob shape into account. A refined finite-element analysis of
an NBS-710 plate production is then achieved. The results are used in
decision-aid process design curves which allow the manufacturer to eff
iciently adjust process parameters with regard to the desired final sh
ape.
