ANALYSIS OF NONLINEAR-WAVES IN A ONE-DIMENSIONAL FLUIDIZED-BED

Development of small disturbances in a one-dimensional fluidized bed i s analyzed based on a set of model equations. Nonlinear governing equa tions for the particle volume fraction are derived from the model equa tions using the reductive perturbation method. Three different types o f reduced equations are derived according to the degree of instability of the uniform fluidized bed, which relates to the amplification term . The validity and limitation of the derived equations are examined by comparing with the numerical computation.
